What is a Database?

What is a database?

A database is a collection of information resources on a specific topic or subject. The resources found in databases are trustworthy because they have been verified by experts.

What kind of information can I find in a database?

Different kinds of databases hold different kinds of information. Many of the databases that you will use for scholarly research will have some combination of these resources:

- Journal articles

- E-books

- Periodicals (such as newspapers, magazines, or trade publications)

- Videos/films

Why should I use a database for my research?

There are plenty of good reasons!
Because databases are subject/topic specific, they make it easier to find high-quality information resources without having to sort through a bunch of unrelated material.
